BACKGROUND

The client is an international brand of eco-friendly hotels (presence in 11 countries with 42 hotels), with the aim of reinventing a new generation of low-carbon and affordable hotels and becoming a strong pan-European platform by 2026, with a much larger presence in France, Spain and Germany.

In order to support the ambition pushed by the new shareholders (doubling turnover), a new international development team has been built (scope: acquisitions, leases, free properties, franchises and construction).

As the current construction manager has just left the company, an interim manager is being sought to lead the team and the company’s construction issues (pending the arrival of a new European construction manager whose recruitment has been launched) and also to carry out a recovery of construction projects that have been delayed.

 

DEVICE

An experienced interim manager, Charles DUBOIS has a total command of the scope of the European Construction Director’s job.

He has carried out numerous works/construction management missions in France and abroad. His experience in difficult contexts, with high stakes in recovery planning and finance, strongly caught the attention of our client who decided to involve him on the mission.

 

MISSION

Reporting directly to the Director of Development, the manager manages a team of 2 people at the European level (1 Construction Manager and 1 Senior Project Manager, one based in London and the other in Barcelona).

For the Development part, the missions of the Director of Construction Europe will cover development operations but also renovations as well as all real estate issues relating to low-carbon commitments.

Feasibility phases and set-up of operations:

– Support the Development Department in the design of operations on the technical, financial, regulatory and administrative
levels- Coordinate the study phases as the projects progress,
– Challenge the project management’s proposals in the interest of the project and the Group’s objectives,
– Proceed with calls for tenders for the choice of the company(ies),

Phases of carrying out operations:

– Supervise the progress of the work and ensure compliance with schedules, budgets and the quality of the works in compliance with administrative, regulatory and legal
constraints- Anticipate and coordinate changes to the works,
– Manage contractual relations with the company(ies) as well as any disputes arising from the work.
– Ensure that the work is taken care of by the Group’s operating teams before and after delivery,
– Finalize the operation on the financial and legal levels (completion of work, compliance, DGD, etc.)

Other missions:
– Support the management and development teams in the context of asset or portfolio acquisitions in order to issue a technical opinion (due diligence),
– Ensure the relevance of the brand’s specifications, both in terms of the product and technical specifications.
