1. BACKGROUND
Established in 2011 following the spin-off of the stainless steel business, the customer is a global player in the stainless steel, electrical steel and special steels industry with operations in more than 30 countries with a production capacity of 2.5 million tons of flat stainless steel in Europe and South America. The Company is structured into three business segments: Stainless Steel and Electrical Steels, Services and Solutions, and Alloys and Special Steels.
Their stainless steel products are 100% recyclable. The company positions itself as a fair and sustainable company with the best CO2 footprint.
The plant in the East of France (strategic site) has had to release its current director to a new position since the summer of 2022 and is facing recruitment problems. In this context, the company asked WAYDEN to identify an interim manager.
2. DISPOSITION
In less than 48 hours and thanks to a solid network of managers from the WAYDEN pool, Alouny SOYDARA, Associate Director, organized a videoconference with the client and then a meeting on the Eastern site with Michel Gaultier, recently available.
His career as a production plant manager in several large industrial companies corresponds perfectly to the requirements of the customer’s challenges: experience in metallurgy on sites classified SEVESO high threshold and team management that works in 5/8. A hands-on profile that knows how to skilfully integrate and unite teams in a strong social context.
3. MISSION
Reporting directly to the General Manager of Operations, Michel Gaultier, supported by the Associate Director WAYDEN, is responsible for the daily management of the plant and for implementing a strategy for standardizing production methods:
- Ensure the proper functioning of the plant and the responsibility of the four autonomous production units: method, daily maintenance, quality, production, QHSE
- Setting production standards and optimizing machine productivity and efficiency
- Implement an operational maintenance strategy and investment to improve equipment availability
- Propose an investment strategy for plant maintenance
