When Martin MICHEL (*) goes on a mission

(*) As a confidentiality measure, the identity of the interim manager and the client are changed.

BACKGROUND

The client specialises in the collection, transformation and recovery of waste (pet food, natural fertilisers, biodiesel, green energies: electricity, heat, water, raw materials for the pharmaceutical industry, etc.).

The customer has about twenty industrial sites and as many collection centers.

This interim management mission is a replacement mission that is part of the departure of the Purchasing Director, the time it takes to recruit his successor.

DEVICE

Thanks to a solid network of managers from the WAYDEN pool, Alexandra GARNIER, Associate Director, organizes a meeting with the customer by videoconference, in order to introduce Martin MICHEL, recently available, whose career as Purchasing Director is in good harmony with the technical and human skills sought.

Martin MICHEL has more than 20 years’ experience in direct/indirect and responsible purchasing in the following sectors: agri-food, organic, catering, pharma, animal feed, with in particular by carrying out missions aimed at determining and deploying the strategy of direct/indirect and responsible purchasing, setting up and organising a purchasing department in coordination with cross-functional departments, source, negotiate, contract strategic and complex files.

MISSION

Reporting to the Administrative and Financial Director, Martin MICHEL’s overall role will be to manage in a very operational way, in coordination with the industrial sites, the day-to-day management of indirect purchasing with the support of a work-study junior buyer whom he will supervise.

The indirect purchasing perimeter represents around €60 million and mainly covers energy purchases (gas and electricity) but also temporary work, clothing, general services, etc.

CONCLUSION

As part of this mission, Alexandra GARNIER agreed on a monthly follow-up with Martin MICHEL and the client. This mode of operation has made it possible to establish agile and effective communication between all parties. The result is a great success in meeting the objectives of this mission, the criticality of which was largely based on energy purchases in a complex external economic context.
