    Created by Toyota, this method aims to improve performance and profitability by eliminating sources of waste: superfluous tasks, non-value-creating elements, overproduction, latency, untapped skills, poor inventory management. Many tools are derived from this: the Just-in-Time method, the Kaizen method or the 5S method.

    Recent results confirm its effectiveness. According to a Kaizen Institute case study, applying Lean in a food and beverage plant generated an increase in OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) of 20 to 25 points, a 68% reduction in unplanned breakdowns, and total savings of $270,000 through the elimination of overtime and waste.

    The Kaizen approach: small steps in everyday life

    Kaizen is a Japanese philosophy (“change for the better”) that advocates continuous improvement through small, regular and progressive changes, involving each employee on a daily basis.

    This method requires the commitment and total buy-in of all employees. Kaizen can be based on the Deming wheel, 5S, TQM (Total Quality Management) and lean management.

    In the furniture industry, a Kaizen program has achieved +28% productivity, -32% glue costs, -30% electricity costs, while reducing workplace accidents by 50% and improving delivery rates from 86% to 98%.

    The Six Sigma Method (DMAIC): Statistical Rigour

    Six Sigma is a process improvement method that uses statistical tools to reduce variability and defects, aiming for a compliance rate of 99.9997% (3.4 defects per million).

    It is based on customer feedback and measurable indicators, via the DMAIC method:

    • Define : Define the Purpose and Scope
    • Measure : Evaluate current performance and customer expectations
