For this new conference organized by Le Cercle by WAYDEN, on Thursday, June 27, 2024, we welcomed Arthur Guérin-Boëri, five-time world champion and holder of eight world records in dynamic freediving, on the theme:
“Becoming an actor in one’s own existence”

Arthur Guérin-Boëri, an exceptional athlete, is the protagonist of the captivating documentary “Sunny Boy“, directed by Morgan Le Faucheur on Netflix. Known for his exploits under the ice, including freediving 120 metres in 2021 and 105 metres in 2022 in 1°C water in Canada, Arthur embodies the values of resilience and surpassing oneself.
Selected at the conference:
“My scariest record attempt was the 105m under ice in Morrison Quarry Lake in Canada (in 2022). I prepare for three years but fear permeates each of my cells. On the day, there is a two-hour conditioning before the dive.
“Science doesn’t yet have much hindsight on the adaptation of the human body to long breath-hold in icy water and I’m a kind of guinea pig.”
This desire to freedive in cold water came to him a few years ago, when he was already interested in the virtues of cold water.
“It’s a pretty miraculous thing for a lot of things: the cardiovascular and immune system, chronic pain and weight loss,” he explains. “I thought, ‘Why not link my interest in freediving with my interest in cold water?'”
Above all, the champion had achieved all his objectives in the pool and wanted to renew himself by taking on new challenges.
“The cold is a very difficult thing to manage mentally, but also in terms of physiology. You can’t do it overnight. »
