Leaders, how to manage your mind well?

The definition of cognition provides us with the following information: A set of mental processes that refer to the main function of knowledge but that apply several factors such as problem solving, decision-making or perception. These are all essential elements when an interim manager takes up his or her position, for example. The leadership style adopted by the person concerned will therefore depend heavily on this cognition and how it is appreciated by his interlocutors. The awareness of mental realization in the realization of a task is broken down in several ways. We will present the three most frequent of them.Overconfidence: By having this overconfidence, the manager can be led to overestimate the company’s capabilities by confusing his personal skills with the company’s limitations, which can lead to poor decision-making but also to misunderstanding on the part of the affiliated teams. The stereotype: It is the fact that a manager/leader surrounds himself with people who mentally resemble him, have the same ideas and the same way of functioning. It is therefore with these people that the latter will feel confident and in a position of strength in terms of his decision-making and persuasive power. However, getting closer to a part of your team by resemblance creates exclusions and withdrawals… The worst thing for a work team in a company…Dissonance: This is the fact of having strong certainties about any subject and not noticing the contradiction made with reality. In other words, we can understand that the manager has blinders on. The risk lies in seeing the leader distort his or her perception of the subject to make it stick as closely as possible to reality while keeping his or her basic principles. A big mistake that can lead to a distorted decision-making that is not understood by the rest of his teams. But then how can we understand and above all prevent this mental impact? There are indeed several solutions:Establish times of so-called “Mental Regeneration” during which the objective will be to free oneself mentally in order to be able to open up to new ideas and goals. This regeneration will include meditation work most often as well as breath control work. These moments can take place at any time of the day, the only constraint being that you must be in a quiet and soothing place. It is also advisable to do some personal reflection work in order to stimulate the brain and once again, to open up to other perspectives.Another solution is that of “attentive presence” which will allow you to focus on what is being said and try not to play on your emotions during the accumulation of information. Indeed, the latter will allow a decrease in negativity, a decrease in the person’s judgment but also to strengthen empathy. This attentive presence will serve as a regulator of emotions and interpretations in the face of negativity in everyday work.
