1. BACKGROUND

The customer is a division of the group and offers a full range of carbon materials, including primary synthetic graphite, natural graphite, conductive carbon black, and silicon carbide.

Carbon black increases the performance of lithium-ion batteries used in electric vehicles. For this reason, the customer decided to invest in new production lines.

This is why he wants to be accompanied by an interim manager in one of his strategic industrial projects.

 

2. DISPOSITION

The CBE4 Project Director, Sébastien LETELLIER, manages the development of the scoping and the preparation of strategic industrial projects for the expansion of carbon black from the design of the process (ready) to the detailed engineering and handover to the project manager for the procurement and construction phase.

Associate Director Florent HEURTAULT, a process engineer with a strong culture in the process industry, accompanies Sébastien LETELLIER in the major phases of his mission.

 

3. MISSION

Line of report to the CBE project manager:

  • Manages, in close coordination with members of IGC’s operations team, in particular the Director of Engineering (and his team) and the Director of the Carbon Black Line 3 Expansion Project (and his team) the preparation of the Carbon Black Line 4 Expansion Project and the Energy Recovery Project.
  • For the expansion of Line 4, the scope is the transformation of the Line 3 engineering file into a cost estimate of Line 4 plus NPO projects to operate the facility with 4 lines at maximum capacity. The deliverables are the file for the investment request according to the client’s procedures. Preparation of the detailed engineering package and purchase specifications by the selected EPC contractor (the same as the one in Line 3).
  • Sébastien manages the execution phase:

○ Monitoring of construction on site with a strong focus on SSE.

○ Engineering verification to minimize risk and maximize future results.

○ Ensure effective project control and reporting, including financial control, and take corrective action.

  • Key interactions: ensure close coordination with IGC’s Industrial Director, IGC’s Engineering Manager and the Project Director of Line 3 and within the company with the VP Industrial Projects and the purchasing organization.

 

4. ASSESSMENT

The mission is extended by 6 months.
