Interim management is becoming an activity in its own right for which the demand is growing strongly. Today, for some, it is even a real profession in which WAYDEN has specialised.
We are therefore constantly looking for the best professionals who are candidates for our interim management profession.
Some professionals have specialized and made it their job: interim managers. They make a series of offers and missions and only practice this type of intervention. They are continuously enriched and trained according to their transition missions. They make themselves known to the interim management players they value the most and do not necessarily make themselves visible to everyone. They are the ones who choose their missions, their partners and their interventions. They are above all free men and women, which makes them one of their great added values in the field.
Experienced executives, managers and seasoned executives, who between two company experiences, wonder if a shorter-term mission would not suit them are also candidates we are looking for. For them, beyond proven and successful experience, essential interpersonal skills are required. In our opinion, they must meet drastic criteria of know-how and especially interpersonal skills, of which we give some tips below.
The level of intervention and requirements on a transition mission requires us to maintain a high level of selectivity to guarantee a continuous quality of intervention according to the criteria put in place by our experience over the past 10 years and formalized with the help of Bureau Veritas certification.
Offer & mission in interim management
The positions we are looking for are operational functions of management committees of companies with a turnover of more than €200M.
- General management: President, CEO, CEO, site director, BU or subsidiary director, country manager, etc.
- Cross-functional or support departments: CFO (administrative and financial department), HRD (human resources department ) or DSI (information systems department) mainly
- Operations departments: industrial management, maintenance department, performance and process management, supply chain, logistics, quality management, etc.
And more generally, all the functions of the company with an operational and especially managerial dimension.

Criteria for selecting a manager for a transition mission
WAYDEN practices high-end interim management . To guarantee its level of quality of intervention, we have set up an HR selection process with the wish, however, to give as many people as possible a chance from the outset. At WAYDEN, we meet more than 1000 experienced candidates for interim management in our premises all year round.
Thus, our HR recruitment teams first research and select the profiles to be met based on the reading of the CV. The points we look for in the career paths of the future WAYDEN executives and interim managers that we wish to meet are in particular:
- Have been a member of an operational management committee of a company
- Have at least one experience in a significant organization (understanding of complex organizations)
- Have experience in diverse organizations, contexts, industries and corporate cultures
- Have already led large-scale transformation projects.
- Have at least one international experience.
They are then offered a first interview with one of our associate directors. At WAYDEN, the associate directors are themselves former executives and business leaders, which guarantees an equal level and quality of listening to this meeting.
The operation of an interim management mission is above all a question of leadership and management. During this interview, these are the qualities that are sought, in particular:
- A know-how of listening, benevolence and empathy, embellished with curiosity,
- The ability to maintain critical thinking and creativity to solve complex problems,
- A strong ability to give meaning and to federate (leadership) and to remain in action and implementation (hands-on),
- Knowing how to adapt as quickly as possible in a “make it easy to work with” logic (sense of service, agility, flexibility, Lean approach),
- A priori self-confidence, optimism and knowing how to communicate it
Experience shows that the best candidates for interim management are individuals who have fundamentally moved from a logic of status to a logic of contribution. This is most often possible with experience but also with the resolution of certain daily contingencies.
At the end of this first meeting with WAYDEN, the selected candidates are offered the opportunity to join WAYDEN selection. But the selection for a first management assignment with WAYDEN will necessarily be subject to the finalization of the complete HR process in the meantime; a second validation interview with another associate director and above all the taking of 2 or 3 reference checks on the candidate’s background.
